Welcome to the Karg Group
This is the website of the Karg group at the University of Bayreuth. This group has been established in the Physical Chemistry department in 2011 and in September 2012 Dr. Karg was announced Juniorprofessor (assistant professor).
Since 2014 Prof. Karg is member of the Emmy Noether Programme of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) with the project "Colloidal Enery-Transfer systems for spaser-based nanolaser" (ETCol). This project aims at amplification of localized surface plasmons using two-level emitter.
The gernal research scope of the Karg group covers aspects of synthesis, characterization and application of new functional materials with a strong focus on optically active materials such as noble metal nanoparticles. Current areas of research include: self-assembly, plasmonics, device preparation, solar cells, nanoparticle synthesis, inorganic/organic hybrid materials, neutron and light scattering.
